Tough angle.
First I was thinking Pierce Arrow, but now I'll guess VELIE.

I'm not 100% sure but I like the odds of casting my lot, sink or swim' with Stretch.  VELIE.

There is more sinking than swimming going on. Try again ?

It is not unusual to see one of this manufacturer's trucks in the mud, but this truck is a little different than you would expect.

Jack Amaral comes through, in his very 1st post no less ! Jack, welcome to the forums. This is indeed a Duplex, a 1920 "Duplex Limited" to be more specific. The unusual feature on this early Duplex is that is is not 4 wheel drive (perhaps that is what "Limited" means ?), but is still out in the mud. Thanks to Mike W for this pic from Shorpy's; the side view, also from Shorpy's but not hi-res, is the same truck. The ad is also from Shorpy's, while the other side view is another 2 wheel drive Duplex from Bill White. Whew ! I think that covers everything !
