Available - Chicago had a bunch of them. I saw them many times. I believe they had a big Waukesha dual ignition gas engine

Mike is on it. Tractor is an AVAILABLE.  Trailer was shop built by the Chicago FD to carry an 85 foot American LaFrance wood aerial ladder.

I wanted to say LaFrance. But it sounds like I am less than half right.

It looks like most everyone is right, this big hook and ladder is a 1950 Available with the Chicago Fire Department. It also looks like most everyone else knows far more about this particular truck than I do ! Thanks for doing all the heavy lifting and providing all the details. It's almost like a day off ! Brian Kelly had this 1st. Thanks to Bill White for the photo. The second photo is another Available from 1950, this one with Oren equipment. It's also from Bill White.

Greg, how about some photos of the Available near your house ?
