This is a civilianized USA standard Liberty truck from 1919. These Liberty trucks were a new concept in military transport, the first standardized military trucks built for the U.S. Army, manufactured identically by 15 different manufacturers. They were the most numerous trucks used during WW1, with 9,452 built and over 7600 sent overseas. They found steady work in civilian hands after the war, the majority going to public works departments for pennies on the dollar. Our WAI truck is part of the Kruse Collection, as is the 2nd Liberty truck below. The last photo is for Bruce, it is the 1926 Sterling DW-something next to our WAI truck. Jack Amaral got us started on the right track. All photos are from Dan Souday except for the 3rd one.
