I'm trying to find a belt for the air compressor on my Oshkosh. On the old grease soaked one I can see Gates Green Stripe. The only number is what looks like 114S. The belt is .975 wide, .575 thick and 49 in. long. Thanks

Mike, I think a belt size C46 is 49" OD. It should be .875 W x .562 H. C46 is a hard one to find but is shows in stock on John's site.

Try to find a 7/8" wide belt that are more common and cheaper. A Gates TR28493 should be close. the last 3 number are the length. That width belt will be hard to find. I put that width belt on my old mack and worked great.

Oops! The Gates C46 is 50" OD. A C45 is 49" but I can't find a supplier for it.

Thanks for the input guys! I was hoping to match the number on the belt up to a listing in a Gates book. Then I could go to NAPA and tell them to order that specific number. I took the old belts in and they did a great job of getting me some new ones. The one for the air compressor is slightly thinner and shorter, but seems to to work fine. A dead snake would have worked better than what was on it. The truck has Vickers power steering. I had the cylinder rebuilt and got a used pump. It works good, but the belt squeals and won't turn the steering if the truck is sitting still. I'm going to try a 5/8" belt, the 1/2" one is too skinny and rides in the bottom of the pulley. It was not a fun job to change the belts on this truck. The air compressor sits on a platform and you have to loosen all four bolts to get the belt off. Plus there is a small driveshaft coming off the balancer that goes to the pump for the hydraulics. You have to take that apart to get the belts off.
