For the New Year, we have a new look for an old truck. How many different makes do you see on this one ? Emblem removed. Photo from Don MacKenzie.

Happy New Year everyone ! We wish everyone a safe and prosperous New Year.

Nicely equipped tow truck. I'll say Mack E grille, I was going to say K International cab but I'll copy the GM/Chevy cab, and the headlights look like GM car headlights from the late 1930s.  I bet they crunched the front of a GM truck and went out and found some roadkill.

It looks like everyone is on the right track here. Considering what a hodge-podge it is, this is still a pretty attractive old truck. Here's Don's comments, which I agree with:

I think the Tow Truck is a super clean job.  Real professional body work.  I think he started with a GMC cab and chassis.  Then he installed a new LeRoi Diesel.  He then added a home made hood,  MACK EH radiator shell and grille and finished up with CHEVROLET headlights cleanly mounted on top of the GMC fenders." The only thing I'll add is that the cab is GMC's heavy medium and heavy duty model used from 1939-1948. It was not shared with Chevrolet as was their light duty model. By the way, the LeRoi emblem on the hood reads "H540 V8". This thing must have really pulled !  Thanks to Don for a great photo.

I hope everyone is over their hangovers by now !
