Hey guys, I'm having trouble with the shift mechanism on the top of my transmission. It's a meritor 10speed and the mechanism the cables run into is a Eaton LCR-4 this was a sudden problem, I was taking off from a light and the truck instantly wouldn't go into the far two gears 4/5 and 9/10. It looks like the cylinder is coming out of the mechanism too far and not allowing the fork to grab the gear. I assumed it was some kind of retainer that broke so I pulled the top of the trans off and the fork is tight and there isn't a groove for any kind of clip that I can see. There is slight wear on the fork but it doesnt look like anything to cause the fork to jump out. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

It was a cable broke internally.

Some "remote" shift assemblies use an expansion plug (disk) to seal the end, if the rod travelled too far it may have "popped" the plug out. The plug keeps dirt out of the mechanism
